Global gold ETFs recorded net inflow of $6.38 billion in week to Friday, says WGC

MUMBAI – Global gold exchange-traded funds saw net inflows of $6.38 billion in the week ended Friday, according to data released by the World Gold Council. Total inflows during the week were $7.56 billion while outflows were $1.18 billion. In terms of region, North America saw the highest net inflows at $4.37 billion, followed by Europe at $1.70 billion. 

 

As of Friday, global gold ETFs in reporting countries put together held 4,160.9 tonnes of the yellow metal, up 46.7 tonnes from a week ago, the data showed.

 

During the week, the US registered the highest net inflows at $4.37 billion, followed by the UK at $1.07 billion. South Africa saw the highest net outflow at $4.2 million, followed by Canada at $2.7 million.

 

At the end of the week, gold ETFs in the US held 2,007.1 tonnes of the yellow metal, the UK had 664.0 tonnes, Switzerland held 379.7 tonnes, and China had 289.7 tonnes, the council said. 

 

Year-to-date, gold ETFs saw a net inflow of $23.61 billion with the highest being reported by China at $7.39 billion. The US had a net outflow of $816.7 million while the UK and Switzerland reported net inflows of $6.16 billion and $2.63 billion, respectively.  End
