NEW DELHI – Prices of most oilseeds rose across major markets on Thursday due to strong purchases by bulk buyers to cater to higher demand for cooking oil during the festival season. In addition, reduced market arrivals supported soybean prices in Rajasthan's Kota and Visavadar in Gujarat.
In Kota, SOYBEAN prices rose INR 300 to INR 6,600 per 100 kg, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Arrivals fell by 1,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) to 8,000 bags, he said.
In Visavadar, soybean prices were largely steady at INR 6,000-INR 6,500 per 100 kg, Ashok Virvani, a local trader, said. However, prices rose slightly on the lower side amid improved demand and reduced market arrivals. Arrivals fell to 450 kg from 900 kg Wednesday, he added.
Despite higher arrivals, GROUNDNUT prices in Visavadar were also largely unchanged at INR 6,000-INR 6,500 per 100 kg due to firm demand. Arrivals rose significantly to 2.0 tonnes from 760 kg Wednesday, Virvani said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell INR 25 to INR 8,450-INR 8,475 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Arrivals across the country were largely unchanged at 250,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), it added.
