Soybean rises in key Gujarat market, steady in Rajasthan

NEW DELHI – Soybean and groundnut prices rose in Visavadar market in Gujarat Wednesday owing to firm demand ahead of festivals. However, soybean prices in key Rajasthan markets such as Kota and Jaipur remained largely unchanged, traders said.

 

In Kota, SOYBEAN prices remained steady at INR 5,800-INR 6,300 per 100 kg, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Arrivals fell by 1,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) to 9,000 bags, he said.

 

In Visavadar, soybean prices were INR 5,800-INR 6,500 per 100 kg, Ashok Virvani, a local trader, said. Prices of the oilseed rose by INR 100 per 100 kg from Tuesday. Arrivals fell to 900 kg from 10.6 tonnes Tuesday, he added. Tuesday, Gujarat markets reopened after closing on Friday for the start of Shravan, a holy month in the Hindu calendar.

 

In Visavadar, GROUNDNUT prices were INR 6,000-INR 6,500 per 100 kg, up by INR 100-INR 500 from Tuesday. Arrivals fell significantly to 760 kg from 2.54 tonnes Tuesday, Virvani said.

 

MUSTARD seed prices in Kota were largely steady at INR 8,000 per 100 kg, Sameriya said. Arrivals of the oilseed were also unchanged at 5,000 bags, he said.

 

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 8,475-INR 8,500 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Arrivals were down by 50,000 bags at 250,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), it added.
