NEW DELHI – US President Donald Trump Saturday said the US military was "ready, willing, and able" to completely "decimate and destroy all areas of Iran" in case of an attempt on his assassination. He said missiles are "locked and loaded" to attack Iran, according to his post on social media platform Truth Social.
His remarks came in view of intelligence shared by Israel alleging an Iranian assassination plot against the US president. "1,000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!" Trump said in the post. "Orders have already been given, and the US Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran," he added.
On Wednesday, Trump expressed his doubts about the deal with Iran amid the renewed hostilities in West Asia. "If we make a deal with Iran, I'm not sure that will stick, because I found them to be very dishonourable people," he had said. His statement followed US forces striking multiple Iranian sites Tuesday night in response to Iran's attacks on a few commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The US and Iran had signed a memorandum of understanding on Jun. 17, which provided for the end of US and Israeli strikes, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and a 60-day ceasefire period to negotiate a final peace deal. End
