Malaysia's June CPO output up 8% on month at 1.64 mln tn; exports rise 6%

MUMBAI – Crude palm oil production in Malaysia rose more than 8% on month in June to 1.64 million tonnes, according to preliminary data released by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board. Both palm oil stocks and exports of the commodity from the country rose from May, the data showed. Malaysia's total palm oil stocks rose nearly 5% on month to 2.54 million tonnes in June, while exports were also up more than 6% on month at 1.20 million tonnes, according to the data.
A Reuters survey had forecast inventories at 2.5 million tonnes, with output seen at 1.65 million tonnes and exports at 1.3 million tonnes in June. Malaysia is the world's second-largest producer of crude palm oil and India is the largest consumer of edible oils.
At 1202 IST, the most active August contract of crude palm oil on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives exchange was down 1.4% at 4,528 ringgits (INR 106,133.69) per tonne.
Malaysia imported 103,113 tonnes of processed palm oil, up more than 135% from 43,816 tonnes imported in the previous month, the data showed. The country's imports of palm kernel oil fell 31% from the previous month to 5,978 tonnes, according to the data.
