MCX iCOMDEX Composite index volatile amid West Asia tensions; bullion down

MUMBAI – The iCOMDEX Composite index of the Multi Commodity Exchange of India was volatile during early trade Thursday amid uncertainties due to the resumption of hostilities between the US and Iran. After opening marginally higher at 22573.75 points, the index fell to 22533.44 points at 1055 IST. The bullion and base metal indices were down 0.16% and 0.02%, respectively, and the energy index was up 0.43%.
In the bullion index, gold was down 0.25% and silver was down 0.27%. In the base metal index, aluminium and copper were trading below Wednesday's closing price, while lead and zinc were marginally up. In the energy index, crude oil was up 0.48% but natural gas was down 0.06%.
The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy. End
