India Mon rainfall 69% above normal, season's deficit at 20% - IMD

MUMBAI – India recorded 14.2 milimetres of rainfall on Monday, 69% above the normal of 8.4 mm, according to data from the India Meteorological Department. During Jun. 1–Jul. 6, the country recorded 170.7 mm of rainfall, 20% below the normal of 213.3 mm for the period.

 

Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, rainfall in the east and northeast as also the south peninsula was in deficit on Monday, while that in northwest was in excess. Rainfall in central India was in large excess, the IMD data showed.  

 

Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was 'large excess' in 11, 'excess' in four, 'large deficient' in eleven, 'deficient' in four, and 'normal' in five, according to the data.  One sub-division received no rain Monday.  End
