India Fri rainfall 31% above-normal, season's deficit at 31%, says IMD

NEW DELHI – India recorded 10.8 millimetres of rainfall on Friday, 31?ove the normal of 8.2 mm, according to data from the India Meteorological Department. During Jun. 1–Jul. 3, the country recorded 131.0 mm of rainfall, 31?low the normal of 189.0 mm for the period.

 

Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, all except the east and northeast received 'normal' to 'large excess' rainfall on Friday. East and northeast India received 'large deficit' rainfall of 4.9 mm, 65?low the normal, while south India recorded 'normal' rainfall at 5.4 mm, 8?low normal. 

 

The rainfall was 'large excess' in central India at 21 mm, 119?ove normal, while it was 'excess' in northwest India at 6.0 mm, 21?ove normal. 

 

Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was 'large excess' in 12, 'excess' in two, 'large deficient' in eight, 'deficient' in nine, and 'normal' in five, according to the data.  End
