India Thu rainfall 36% above normal at 10.7 mm, season's deficit 33% - IMD

NEW DELHI – India recorded 10.7 millimetres of rainfall on Thursday, 36% above the normal of 7.9 millimetres, data from the India Meteorological Department showed. During Jun. 1–Jul. 2, the country recorded 120.2 millimetres of rain, 33% below the normal for the period.
Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, two regions received "deficient" rainfall on Thursday. East and northeast India received 53% below-normal rains at 6.8 mm and south India recorded 22% below-normal showers at 4.6 mm. Rainfall was "large excess" in central India and northwest India at 17.6 mm and 9.2 mm, respectively.
In the 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was "large excess" in 14, "excess" in eight, "large deficient" in six, "deficient" in five, and "normal" in two, according to the data. End
