NEW DELHI - India's goods and services tax collections gathered pace in June, growing 13.9% on year to INR 1.948 trillion, government data released Wednesday showed. On a month-on-month basis, June's GST collection was only marginally higher than May's. This was the third month when the government did not collect anything from cess after the pending payments under it were cleared. 

 

The government had collected INR 1.942 trillion in May.  

 

Domestic GST revenue during June grew 6.5% on year to INR 1.348 trillion, the release said. Import revenue grew sharply last month, rising 34.6% on year to INR 600 billion. 

 

GST revenue, net of refunds, rose 11.2% on year to INR 1.624 trillion in June. This was despite refunds rising sharply during the month by 29.1% on year to INR 324 billion. The post-settlement revenue of states was INR 882 billion in June, up 9% on year. 

 

Central GST collection in June was INR 374 billion, up from INR 346 billion a year ago. State GST collection last month was INR 451 billion, up from INR 433 billion collected in June 2025. Integrated GST mop-up was INR 1.123 trillion, up from INR 933 billion a year ago.

 

As per the Budget estimates, the government's GST collections in 2026-27 (Apr-Mar) are projected to grow 6.3% on year. Collectively, in the first three months of FY27, GST collections grew 8.4% to INR 6.317 trillion. End
