MUMBAI – The government has reduced the price of domestically produced natural gas for July by 20.1% on month to $8.73 per million British thermal units on a gross calorific value basis, the oil ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell said in a notification Tuesday. The price of domestic natural gas was $10.93 per mBtu in June.
The natural gas produced by Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. and Oil India Ltd. will continue to be subject to a $7.00 per mBtu ceiling on a gross calorific value basis for July, according to the notification.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas amended the New Domestic Natural Gas Pricing Guidelines in April 2023 to integrate several recommendations of the Kirit Parikh committee on gas pricing. The revised guidelines mandate domestic natural gas be priced at 10% of the Indian crude oil basket price and announced on the last day of every month for the following month. End
