Global gold ETFs record net outflow of $4.7 billion in week to Jun 26 - WGC

MUMBAI – Global gold exchange traded funds witnessed a net outflow of $4.7 billion in the week ended Friday, according to data released by the World Gold Council. Total inflows during the week were $801.1 million, while outflows were $5.5 billion. In terms of regions, North America saw the highest net outflow of $3 billion, followed by Asia at $1.1 billion.

 

As of Jun. 26, global gold ETFs in reporting countries put together held 4,048.1 tonnes of the yellow metal, down 38.3 tonnes on week, the data showed.

 

During the week, the US registered the highest net outflow of $2.98 billion from gold ETFs, followed by China at $1.05 billion. The UK witnessed an outflow of $365.2 million, while Switzerland recorded an outflow of $217.9 million, as per the WGC data. However, Germany registered a net inflow of $146.3 million in gold ETFs.

 

At the end of the week, gold ETFs in the US held 1,958.7 tonnes of the yellow metal, the UK had 631.4 tonnes, Switzerland held 371.8 tonnes, and China had 278.8 tonnes. Data for India for the week was not available.

 

Year-to-date, gold ETFs saw a net inflow of $8.3 billion, with the highest being reported by China at $5.89 billion. The US had a net outflow of $7.69 billion, while the UK and Switzerland reported net inflows of $1.8 billion and $1.6 billion, respectively.  End
