Mustard mixed; soybean up in Kota on improved demand

MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices moved in opposite directions in Rajasthan on Thursday, falling in Jaipur and rising in Kota, traders said. Soybean prices rose in Kota, while groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices fell in Jaipur by INR 75 per 100 kilograms Thursday to INR 7,875-INR 7,900 per 100 kg as demand was subdued at higher rates, traders at Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were 450,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 500,000 bags on the previous day.
In Kota, however, mustard seed prices rose by INR 430 per 100 kg to INR 7,880 as oil mills were purchasing domestic oilseeds, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were 10,000 bags, the same as the previous day.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg as demand was limited, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said. In Kota, soybean prices rose by INR 79 per 100 kg to INR 6,880 as demand improved, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 14,000 bags, up 5,000 bags from the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,100 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
