Govt approves procurement of 454,580 tn summer moong, 255,450 tn urad in MP

MUMBAI – The Centre has approved the procurement of 454,580 tonnes of moong and 255,450 tonnes of urad from the 2026 summer crop season in Madhya Pradesh under the price support scheme, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on Tuesday. The Madhya Pradesh government had sought the Centre's approval for the same on Apr. 29, the notification said.
The date of commencement of the procurement of the summer crop moong and urad will be decided by the Madhya Pradesh government, and the procurement period will span for 90 days from the selected commencement date, the notification said. Before procurement begins, central nodal agencies responsible for the same should verify the availability of "scientific" storage space, as per the price support scheme guidelines, arranged by the state government, within the normal limit from the procurement centres. The central nodal agencies responsible for the procurement are the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. and the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India Ltd.
