MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were steady in key markets across the country as demand remained need-based due to the availability of imported edible oils, traders said. With oilseed prices rising significantly over the past few months, rates are likely to be range-bound for some time, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices were steady in Rajasthan's Jaipur at INR 7,925-INR 7,950 per 100 kilograms Wednesday after increasing by INR 50 the previous day, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were 500,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as the previous day.

In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 7,450 per 100 kg as oil mills were not eagerly purchasing domestic oilseeds due to the availability of imported crude edible oils, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were 10,000 bags, the same as the previous day.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg as demand was limited, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said. In Kota, too, soybean prices were steady at INR 6,801 per 100 kg due to need-based demand, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 9,000 bags, down 1,000 from the previous day.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,100 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
