MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur, Rajasthan, as demand improved slightly after prices fell the previous day, but were steady in Kota, Rajasthan, traders said. Soybean and groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices rose in Jaipur by INR 50 per 100 kilograms to INR 7,925-INR 7,950 as demand improved at lower rates, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Prices also rose as arrivals fell, they said. Arrivals across the country were 500,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 525,000 bags from the previous day.

In Kota, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 7,450 per 100 kg as oil mills were not eagerly purchasing domestic oilseeds due to the availability of imported crude edible oils, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were 10,000 bags, the same as the previous day.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg as demand was limited, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said. In Kota, too, soybean prices were steady at INR 6,801 due to need-based demand, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 10,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,100 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
