NEW DELHI – US President Donald Trump Tuesday said that talks with Iran are going well and the latter has agreed to "highest level nuclear inspections", even as he expressed anguish over Iranian media allegedly trying to portray "the US victory as small and insignificant as possible". Trump claimed that the world was "a much safer place" now.

In a social media post, Trump said that he has "agreed to allow" the Strait of Hormuz to remain open and that a "record" 19 million barrels of crude oil flowed out of the Persian Gulf on Monday. The US ships, however, will remain in the region, should the need arises to impose the naval blockade again, he added.

"Despite their protestations and false statements to the contrary, coupled with the drumbeat of the Fake News, which is doing everything possible to make the US victory as small and insignificant as possible, Iran has fully and completely agreed to highest level nuclear inspections long into the future (Infinity!)," Trump wrote.

He said that Iran giving access to International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors to its nuclear sites "will insure nuclear honesty". And if Iran does not agree to this, there would be "no further negotiations".

Earlier, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei told reporters that the Iranian delegation in Switzerland did not meet with the International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi during the latest round of talks. He added there is no "clear schedule" for the agency to examine Iran's nuclear facilities that were attacked by the US and Israel.

Trump reiterated the US position that the money the US Treasury was releasing and the money earned through sanctions waiver would be used for the purchase of food and medical supplies from the US. "The money...will be used for the purchase of food and medical supplies, exclusively from the United States, including corn, wheat, and soybeans from our great American farmers," he wrote.

He said that these are things that are "desperately needed by Iran", and that he felt it was necessary to help in this "humanitarian crisis".

Baghaei had earlier said that Tehran was "not faced with any restriction" on how to channel these funds. "Our assets will be employed with absolute liberty," he said in response to a media query. End
