Global gold ETFs witness net inflow of $1.14 bln in week to Jun 19 - WGC

MUMBAI – Global gold exchange traded funds witnessed a net inflow of $1.14 billion in the week ended Friday, according to data released by the World Gold Council. Gross inflows during the week were $3.15 billion, while outflows were $2.00 billion. In terms of regions, Europe saw the highest net inflow of $869.1 million, followed by North America at $381.3 million.

 

As of Jun. 19, global ETFs were holding 4,086.3 tonnes of gold, up 5.1 tonnes on week, showed the data.

 

During the week, the US registered the highest net inflow of $603.3 million in the ETFs, followed by the UK at $338.1 million. Germany witnessed $258.7 million of net inflows in the ETFs during the week. On the other hand, Canada saw investors pulling out $222 million on a net basis.

 

At the end of the week, the US saw gold ETFs holding 1,982.2 tonnes of the yellow metal, the UK had 634.3 tonnes, and Germany held 323.6  tonnes.

 

Notably, China saw a net inflow of $11.8 million in gold ETFs during the week, at the end of which it was holding 286.9 tonnes of the precious metal.

 

Data for India for the week was not available.

 

Year to date, gold ETFs saw a net inflow of $13.0 billion, with the highest net inflow being reported by China at $6.94 billion, followed by India at $3.47 billion. The US saw the maximum net outflow of $4.71 billion.  End
