India received 52% below normal rainfall at 3.3 mm Monday, says IMD

MUMBAI – India recorded 3.3 millimetres of rainfall on Monday, 52% below the normal of 6.8 millimetres, data from the India Meteorological Department showed. During Jun. 1-22 the country received 60.6 millimetres of rainfall, 43% below the normal of 106 millimetres.

 

All four subdivisions recorded deficient rainfall on Monday. Rainfall in south peninsular India was 47% below normal at 3 mm, while east and northeast India got 18% below normal rainfall at 10.8 mm. Precipitation in northwest India was 55% below normal at 1.4 mm on Monday. In central India, the rainfall was 79% below normal at 1.7 mm. 

 

Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, 18 got 'large deficient' rainfall, and 12 received 'deficient' rainfall on Monday. Rainfall was normal in four subdivision, 'excess' in one and 'large excess' in one subdivision, the weather department said.  End
