MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices fell across key markets in the country, as demand was subdued due to the availability of imported edible oil, traders said. Soybean prices fell in Kota, Rajasthan, but were steady in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, while groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell by INR 25 per 100 kilograms to INR 7,875-INR 7,900 as demand was need-based at higher prices amid higher arrivals, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Prices also fell due to ample availability of imported edible oils, they said. Arrivals across the country were 525,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up from 500,000 bags on Friday.

In Kota, mustard seed prices fell by INR 200 per 100 kg to INR 7,450 as oil mills curtailed purchases of domestic oilseeds due to the availability of imported crude edible oils, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were 10,000 bags, down 6,000 bags from Friday.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg as demand was limited, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said. In Kota, soybean prices fell INR 49 per 100 kg to INR 6,801 due to subdued demand, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 11,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from Friday, he added.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,100 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
