MUMBAI - The board of the Securities and Exchange Board of India Friday formally approved a new code of conduct for members of SEBI, after the board had approved the recommendations of the high-level committee on the matter in the previous board meeting of Mar. 23 with modifications. In response to a query from Informist in a press conference Friday, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said the compliance with the new code will be binding on wholetime members.

The market regulator's board Friday also approved amendments to the employees' service regulation which will encompass the recommendations, as modified, by the high-level committee on conflict of interest, disclosures, and related matters in respect of members and officials of SEBI.

The final code and the employees' service rules changes will be made available on the SEBI website after due process. The changes to employees' service regulations will have to be first notified in the official gazette, SEBI said in a press release on the board meeting decisions Friday.  End
