India CPI-AL inflation rises to 4.08% in May from 3.39% in April

NEW DELHI – India's CPI inflation for agricultural labourers rose to 4.08% in May from 3.39% in April, according to data released by the labour bureau Friday. Inflation based on CPI for rural labourers also rose in May to 3.71% from 3.11% in April.

 

The rise in inflation for agricultural and rural labourers is in line with the increase in headline CPI inflation, which rose to a 16-month high of 3.93% in May from 3.48% in the previous month. The overall index for agricultural labourers in May was at 138.52, up from 137.30 in April. The index for rural labourers rose to 138.37 last month from 137.22 in April.

 

CPI for agricultural labourers and CPI for rural labourers are used to revise minimum wages for agricultural and rural labour in different states.  End
