NEW DELHI – Food Minister Pralhad Joshi Thursday launched a smart warehousing system to store foodgrains, using advanced technologies across 215 warehouses of the Central Warehousing Corporation. The Food Corp. of India is also deploying the system in an additional 150 warehouses.

The Smart Warehousing System integrates advanced technologies such as FASTag, geo-tagged smart locks, AI-enabled bag counting, face recognition systems, object detection, and AI-powered surveillance for fire, smoke, and rodent detection, according to a release.

The system is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency by reducing vehicle turnaround time, enhancing transparency, strengthening compliance monitoring, and providing real-time visibility of warehouse operations. End
