MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seeds rose in key markets in the country on Wednesday on firm demand from oil mills amid falling arrivals, traders said. Soybean prices rose in Rajasthan's Kota, while they were steady in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam. Groundnut prices were steady in Ratlam, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 25 per 100 kilograms to INR 7,975-INR 8,000 Wednesday as demand was firm amid falling arrivals, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 500,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 550,000 bags the previous day.

In Kota, mustard seed prices rose by a whopping INR 1,100 per 100 kg to INR 7,450, after falling sharply last week, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Mustard seed prices had fallen by INR 1,450 per 100 kg last week. Prices rose Wednesday as arrivals fell significantly amid oil mills actively purchasing domestic oilseeds, he said. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 14,000 bags, down from 28,000 bags the previous day, he said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg as demand was limited, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said.

In Kota, soybean prices rose by INR 1,250 per 100 kg to INR 6,750 as demand improved, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 12,000 bags, up 2,000 bags from the previous day.
