MCX iCOMDEX index down, bullion falls ahead of US Fed's policy decision

MUMBAI – The iCOMDEX Composite index of the Multi Commodity Exchange of India traded lower Wednesday. After opening nearly unchanged at 24131.78, it fell to 24084.99 points at 1105 IST.   

 

Among the three components of the Composite index, the bullion index traded 0.4% lower, as gold declined 0.4% and silver 0.3% from the previous day's closing. Bullion prices fell as market participants cautiously await the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision, scheduled to be announced Wednesday, the first policy meeting under the leadership of Kevin Warsh. Investors also await further clarity on the proposed US-Iran peace agreement.  

 

The energy index was down 0.2%, with crude oil trading 0.2% lower and natural gas down 0.3%. The base metal index remained volatile, with copper and zinc trading steady, while aluminium trading 0.4% higher. Lead was down 0.2%.

 

The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy.  End
