MUMBAI – India recorded 1.7 millimetres of rainfall on Tuesday, 72% below the normal of 6 millimetres, data from the India Meteorological Department showed. During Jun. 1–16, the country received 44 millimetres of rainfall, 35% below the normal of 68.1 millimetres.

 

All four subdivisions recorded deficient rainfall on Tuesday. Rainfall in South Peninsular India was 80?low normal at 1.1 mm, while East and Northeast India got 69?low normal at 3.5 mm. Precipitation in northwest India was 28% below normal at 1.9 mm on Tuesday. In central India, the rainfall was 87% below normal at 0.9 mm. 

 

Of the 36 subdivisions in the country, five received no rain, 22 got 'large deficient' rainfall, and five received 'deficient' rainfall on Tuesday. Rainfall was normal in one subdivision, 'excess' in two and 'large excess' in one subdivision, the weather department said.  End
