MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were steady in key markets of the country as there was need-based demand due to availability of imported edible oils, traders said. Moreover, prices have already increased significantly in the past few months and are likely to remain range-bound in the coming days, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,950-INR 7,975 as demand was need-based at higher prices, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 550,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up from 500,000 bags the previous day. Moreover, imported edible oil stocks are available, so crushers are not buying oilseeds at the moment, traders said.

In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,350 per 100 kg, after falling significantly by INR 1,450 on Friday, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 28,000 bags, the same as the previous day, he said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg as demand was limited, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said.

In Kota, soybean prices were steady at INR 5,500 per 100 kg after falling by INR 1,550 on Friday due to muted demand at higher rates and availability of imported soyoil, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 10,000 bags, the same as the previous day.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,100 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
