NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of all spices traded on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange closed higher Tuesday as market sentiment improved after US and Iran signed a peace deal. India ships about 15-20% of its spices to West Asia, and prolonged disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have impacted exports. Coriander prices hit record high levels of INR 14,340 per 100 kilograms earlier in the day amid robust domestic demand and expectations of increased export demand.

US President Donald Trump said the memorandum of understanding with Iran has been "signed" and that the Strait of Hormuz will be completely open by Friday. "The deal's all signed. And the Strait is already partially opened," Trump said as he arrived at the summit in France. "On Friday, it'll be completely open."

The most active July contract of JEERA rose over 4% to INR 20,850 per 100 kg. Jeera prices rose further amid strong demand for premium-quality supplies and concerns over the availability of high-grade stocks, Kedia Advisory said.

Technically, the market is witnessing fresh buying amid renewed export demand, Kedia said. However, the upside is likely to be limited amid ample supplies. "Farmers are actively liquidating stocks to generate funds for upcoming Kharif sowing activities, keeping supply pressure elevated," it added.

The most active August contract of CORIANDER rose over 5% to INR 14,230 per 100 kg. The contract extended gains for three straight sessions as bulk buyers increased purchases after prices hit INR 12,800 levels and on hope of increased export demand. "The expectation is that peace abroad will boost exports of Indian coriander, keeping prices firm," IGrain India said in a note. Earlier in the day, the contract hit an all-time high of INR 14,340 per 100 kg.

The most active August contract of TURMERIC rose nearly 2% to INR 16,948 per 100 kg. The contract rose further amid improved market sentiment and fresh buying interest at lower levels. Prices have gained despite rising arrivals during the peak harvest season. "Daily arrivals have outpaced immediate demand, creating short-term pressure on prices, while significant inventories....have kept buyers cautious," Kedia Advisory said.

Turmeric prices were under pressure amid rising supplies and expectations of increased sowing this Kharif season. Discounts offered for average-quality produce amid incidences of rhizome rot in some harvested lots had also pressured prices.

The following were the closing prices of the most active spices contracts Tuesday:
