MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices fell in the key markets of Jaipur and Kota as demand fell at higher rates, traders said. Soybean prices fell in Kota but were steady in Ratlam, they said. Groundnut prices remained steady in key markets.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur fell by INR 50 per 100 kilograms to INR 8,050-INR 8,075 as demand was poor at higher prices, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 525,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 550,000 bags the previous day.

In Kota, too, mustard seed prices fell significantly by INR 1,450 to INR 6,350 per 100 kg as demand was limited at higher prices even as arrivals increased, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 28,000 bags, up 12,000 bags from the previous day, he said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg as demand was limited, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said.

In Kota, however, soybean prices crashed to INR 5,500 per 100 kg, down INR 1,550, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 10,000 bags, down 4,000 bags from the previous day.
