Mustard mixed; soybean up in Kota as demand improves

MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur, Rajasthan, tracking prices in the international market and due to falling arrivals, but fell in Kota, Rajasthan, traders said. Soybean prices rose in Kota and groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said.  

 

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur rose by INR 50 per 100 kilograms to INR 8,050-INR 8,075, tracking higher international prices, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Prices also rose as arrivals have started to fall amid firm demand, they said. Arrivals across the country were at 500,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 600,000 bags the previous day.

 

In Kota, mustard seed prices fell by INR 131 to INR 7,800 per 100 kg as demand fell at higher prices and also as arrivals rose, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 18,000 bags, up 3,000 bags from the previous day, he said. 

 

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg due to limited demand, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said.

 

On the other hand, in Kota, soybean prices rose by INR 119 to INR 7,000 per 100 kg as demand improved at lower rates, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 14,000 bags, up 2,000 bags from the previous day. Prices also rose due to falling arrivals, he added.

 

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,100 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
