MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in key markets of Jaipur, Rajasthan, and Kota due to firm demand from states such as West Bengal amid falling arrivals, traders said. Soybean prices rose in Kota, but fell in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, and groundnut prices fell in key markets, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur rose by INR 100 per 100 kilograms to INR 8,025-INR 8,050 owing to firm demand, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Crushers are more keen to buy domestic oilseeds rather than rely on higher-priced imported crude edible oils, the traders said. Arrivals across the country were at 600,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up from 500,000 bags the previous day.

In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices rose by INR 31 to INR 7,931 per 100 kg as arrivals were lower and there was firm government buying, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Demand also came from states such as West Bengal, which supported mustard seed prices, he said. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 15,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day, he said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam fell INR 300 to INR 3,325-INR 7,550 per 100 kg due to sluggish demand at significantly higher rates, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), down 300 bags from the previous day, he said.

On the other hand, in Kota, soybean prices rose by INR 81 to INR 6,881 per 100 kg as demand improved after prices fell significantly the previous day, Sameriya said. Arrivals totalled 12,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day. Prices also rose due to falling arrivals, he added.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam fell by INR 300 to INR 3,350-INR 8,150 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,100 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), down 100 bags from the previous day, they said.
