--ICICI Prudential AMC halts subscription in Gold ETF for over INR 250 mln
MUMBAI – After HDFC Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Asset Management Co. has decided to temporarily suspend subscriptions exceeding INR 250 million into "ICICI Prudential Gold ETF", effective from post-market hours Friday. Lump-sum subscriptions to this exchange-traded fund will not be accepted until further notice, the mutual fund house said in a notice.
On Thursday, HDFC Mutual Fund decided to temporarily suspend lump-sum subscriptions to "HDFC Gold ETF" and "HDFC Gold ETF Fund of Fund." These decisions come at a time when rising energy prices due to the war in West Asia have stoked concerns of higher inflation. The Centre had in May raised import duties on gold to 15% from 6% earlier to dissuade people from non-essential gold purchases and save foreign exchange. End
