MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in the key markets of Jaipur and Kota, tracking higher international prices. Prices also rose as arrivals fell, traders said. Soybean prices rose in Kota due to firm demand for domestic oilseeds, but prices in Ratlam were steady, and groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 25 to INR 8,100-INR 8,125 per 100 kg, tracking higher global prices, traders at Marudhar Trading Agency said. Prices also rose as arrivals have started falling, they said. Arrivals across the country were at 600,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 650,000 bags the previous day.
In Kota too, mustard seed prices rose INR 25 to INR 7,725 per 100 kg as demand was firm, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 17,000 bags, the same as the previous day, he said. As crushers were keen on buying domestic oilseeds instead of relying on imported crude edible oils, prices increased significantly in the past few months, traders said.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,850 per 100 kg after rising significantly during the week amid firm demand, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day, he said.
In Kota, soybean prices rose INR 50 to INR 7,500 per 100 kg due to firm demand for domestic oilseeds, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 13,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,450 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,200 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
