MCX iCOMDEX Composite index down as base metal, energy prices fall

MUMBAI/NEW DELHI – The iCOMDEX Composite index of the Multi Commodity Exchange of India opened lower Thursday, pulled down by base metal and energy indices. It had opened at 25712.25 points, down from 25760.37 points at the previous day's close. At 1124 IST, the Composite index was trading 0.13% down at 25727. 29 points.
Among its indices, bullion was up 0.22%, gold up 0.35% and silver was down 0.14%. The base metal index was down 0.47%, pushed down by zinc which was down 0.64%, aluminium down 0.38% and copper down 0.37%. Lead too was down 0.29%.
The energy index too was down 1.15%, with crude trading down 1.21% and natural gas down 0.32%.
The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy. End
