MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur due to firm demand from crushers amid low arrivals, while prices fell in Kota due to poor demand at increased prices, traders said. Soybean prices in Kota fell and were steady in Ratlam, and groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose by INR 50 to INR 8,075-INR 8,100 per 100 kg as demand was firm amid falling arrivals, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 650,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 700,000 bags the previous day, they said.
Crushers are keen on buying domestic oilseeds instead of relying on imported crude edible oils, traders said. Prices rose as there was good demand from major cooking oil manufacturing companies, they added.
In Kota, mustard seed prices fell INR 100 to INR 7,700 per 100 kg as demand was need-based, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 16,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day, he said.
SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,850 per 100 kg after rising significantly during the week amid firm demand, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), same as the previous day, he said.
In Kota, soybean prices fell by INR 30 to INR 7,450 per 100 kg as demand was subdued, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 13,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,450 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,200 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
