MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur, Rajasthan, as the arrivals have started to fall amid firm demand, but fell in Kota, traders said. Soybean and groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur rose by INR 50 to INR 7,900-INR 7,925 per 100 kg on firm demand for domestic oilseeds amid lower arrivals, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 750,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as the previous day, they said. Crushers were keen to buy domestic oilseeds instead of relying on imported crude edible oils, traders said.

In Kota, also in Rajasthan, mustard seed prices fell by INR 30 to INR 7,650 per 100 kg as demand was limited at higher prices, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 19,000 bags, down 3,000 bags from the previous day, he said.

SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,850 per 100 kg after rising significantly during the week amid firm demand, Narendra Porwal, a local trader said. Arrivals were at 3,600 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), same as the previous day, he said. In Kota, too, soybean prices were steady at INR 7,450 per 100 kg as demand was limited to immediate need at higher prices, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 15,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous day.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,450 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,200 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
