NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of most spices traded on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange closed lower on Tuesday. Jeera prices fell amid higher supply and weak export demand, while coriander declined as demand softened at higher rates. Turmeric prices were, however, flat.

The most-active June contract of JEERA was down 1.8% to INR 19,330 per 100 kilograms, as arrivals remained high across major markets. "The prevailing supply pressure is likely to limit any significant upside in prices despite intermittent buying support," SMC Global Securities said.

The most-active June contract of CORIANDER was down 0.1% at INR 12,928 per 100 kg. Prices fell slightly as demand softened at higher price levels. Earlier in the day, the contract hit a one-week high of INR 13,170 per 100 kg. In addition, prevailing arrival pressure across key markets is likely to keep prices range-bound for the time being, SMC Global Securities said.

The most-active June contract of TURMERIC was flat at INR 16,230 per 100 kg. Going ahead, SMC Global expects prices to hover with a slight firm bias around INR 15,830–INR 16,630, driven by improved buying at prevailing price levels.
