Mustard, soybean up in Kota on firm demand for oilseeds

MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in Kota and were steady in Jaipur, traders said. Soybean prices also rose in Kota on firm demand but were steady in Ratlam. Groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they said. Oilseed prices in India have recovered sharply on year in May with millers and refiners shifting towards domestic oilseeds from costlier imported oils, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,875-INR 7,900 per 100 kg after rising the past few days on firm demand for domestic oilseeds amid higher cost of imported edible oils, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 900,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as on the previous day, they said.
In Kota, also in Rajasthan, mustard seed prices rose INR 325 to INR 7,700 per 100 kg as crushers were keen to buy domestic oilseeds instead of relying on imported finished products, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Mustard seed arrivals in Kota were at 19,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous day, he said.
SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,650 per 100 kg after rising by INR 1,000 this week on good demand for domestic oilseeds, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 3,200 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), down 300 bags from the previous day.
In Kota, soybean prices rose by INR 175 to INR 7,550 per 100 kg on good demand from crushers, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 12,000 bags, the same as on the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,450 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as on the previous day, they said.
