MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur and Kota in Rajasthan as demand for domestic oilseeds improved, traders said. Soybean prices rose in Kota but were steady in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, they said. Groundnut prices were steady in key markets, they added.

 

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur rose INR 75 per 100 kilograms to INR 7,875-INR 7,900 as demand for domestic oilseeds was good, given the higher cost of imported edible oils, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 900,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as on the previous day, they said.

 

Oilseed prices in India have recovered sharply on year in May with millers and refiners shifting towards domestic oilseeds from costly imported oils. Mustard seed prices are now well above the minimum support price of INR 6,200 per 100 kg.

 

In Kota, mustard seed prices rose INR 25 to INR 7,375 per 100 kg as demand was firm, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Mustard seed arrivals were at 18,000 bags, same as on the previous day, he said.

 

SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam were steady at INR 3,325-INR 7,650 per 100 kg, after rising by INR 1,000 this week on good demand for domestic oilseeds, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 3,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), same as on the previous day. 

 

In Kota, soybean price rose by INR 25 to INR 7,375 per 100 kg on good demand from crushers, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 12,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day.

 

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,450 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), same as on the previous day, they said.
