MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were mixed in key spot markets, with prices moving in different directions. Mustard seed prices rose in Rajasthan's Jaipur, tracking higher global rates, but were steady in Kota in the state. Soybean prices rose at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, but fell in Kota, traders said. Groundnut prices rose in Ratlam, they added.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur rose INR 200 per 100 kilograms to INR 7,650-INR 7,700, tracking higher prices globally, traders at Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 900,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up from 850,000 bags the previous day, they said.
On the other hand, in Kota, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 7,350 per 100 kg after increasing the previous day by INR 100 as millers preferred domestic oilseeds over costly imported edible oils, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Mustard seed arrivals were at 18,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous day, he said.
There has been a sharp increase in the price of imported edible oil due to the ongoing military conflict in West Asia. Prices of imported edible oils have risen, prompting millers to prefer buying domestic oilseeds for crushing rather than relying on imported finished products, market participants said.
SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam rose by INR 1,000 to INR 3,325-INR 7,650 per 100 kg, due to good demand for domestic oilseed amid high imported edible oil prices, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 3,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), up 1,000 bags from the previous day.
However, soybean prices in Kota fell by INR 350 per 100 kg to INR 7,350 due to limited demand at higher prices and higher arrivals, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 14,000 bags, up from 10,000 bags the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam rose INR 100 to INR 3,350-INR 8,450 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), up 100 bags from the previous day, they said.
