MUMBAI – The Multi Commodity Exchange of India has invited domestic silver refiners to apply for empanelment for its Good Delivery Norms, under which they can deliver silver via the MCX platform. It already accepts gold bars under the scheme.
In April 2022, the MCX had launched Good Delivery Norms for BIS-Standard gold and silver.
MCX is accepting serially numbered gold and silver bars of specified quality standard from refiners approved by London Bullion Market Association. It also accepts gold bars produced by specific UAE Good Delivery refiners, it said in a release Sunday.
"With an objective to enable delivery of gold and silver refined in India and in line with the
‘Aatmanirbhar' vision of the government, MCX has created the path for the acceptance of bullion
bars refined by Indian refineries, for delivery via MCX bullion contracts. This is subject to the
refiners' meeting the exchange-set criteria as prescribed by MCX from time to time," it said.
The circular also detailed the terms and conditions such as eligibility criteria, procedure including documentation and other information for refiners wishing to apply for empanelment. End
