India FY26 tea exports up 11% on year at INR 83.16 bln, says Tea Board

MUMBAI – India exported tea worth INR 83.16 billion in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), nearly 11% higher than INR 75.04 billion the previous year, according to provisional data released by Tea Board India. In volume terms, exports rose nearly 5% to 270.30 million kilograms during the period.
Exports from northern India rose 17.6% on year to INR 60.69 billion in FY26. Exports from southern India fell slightly over 4% to INR 22.46 billion. In volume terms, exports from northern India rose over 15% on year to 185.90 million kg, while those from southern India declined nearly 13% to 84.40 million kg.
The average price of tea exported from north India was INR 326.49 per kg in FY26, up from INR 320.17 per kg the year ago. The average price of tea exported from southern India rose to INR 266.15 per kg from INR 242.29 per kg a year ago, the data showed. The average unit price of tea exported from the country rose to INR 307.65 per kg in FY26 from INR 290.97 per kg in FY25, according to the data.
During Jan-Mar, India exported 54.69 million kg of tea, down 21%. In value terms it was INR 16.61 billion, down nearly 17% on year. The average unit price of tea exported from the country during the same period rose over 5% to INR 303.66 per kg from INR 288.43 per kg a year ago, according to the data.
Exports from northern India fell over 16% on year to INR 11.48 billion in Jan-Mar and exports from southern India declined over 18% to INR 5.13 billion. In volume terms, exports from northern India fell nearly 19% on year to 36.81 million kg, and those from southern India declined over 25% on year to 17.88 million kg. End
