MCX iCOMDEX Composite index opens lower as bullion, base metals' rates down

MUMBAI – After opening down, the Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index continued to trade lower Thursday as bullion and base metal components were in the red. The Composite index opened at 27204.67 points, down from 27214.85 points at the previous close. At 1054 IST, it was trading at 27170.05 points, down 0.16% from Wednesday.
Among the components of the Composite index, bullion was down 0.02%, with gold trading up 0.9% but silver down 0.9%.
The base metal index, too, traded lower by 0.36%. Aluminium and copper were down 0.49% and 0.74%, respectively. Lead was down 0.07%, although zinc was up 0.04%.
The energy index was up 0.20%, with crude oil up 0.16% and natural gas up 0.75%.
The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy. End
