MUMBAI – Total production of groundnut in Rajasthan is estimated to rise nearly 47% on year to 3.12 million tonnes, according to the third advance estimate of area, production and yield for 2025-26 (Jul-Jun) released by the state's agriculture department. The estimates includes production projections for both kharif and rabi seasons. Rajasthan is the second-largest producer of groundnut in the country.

 

Production of soybean is pegged at 595,373 tonnes, down nearly 52% on year, while that of mustard is seen rising more than 18% from the previous year to 6.30 million tonnes. A decline in acreage, along with crop losses due to heavy rainfall and floods during the 2025 southwest monsoon hit soybean production in the state.

 

The total production of food grains in 2025-26 is projected at 29.77 million tonnes, marginally down from 29.82 million tonnes produced a year ago. Food grains include cereals and pulses.

 

Wheat output in the state is estimated to rise 6% on year to 15.89 million tonnes, according to the data. The output of most other major cereals is expected to decline on year, it showed. Maize production is estimated to fall nearly 14% to 2.35 million tonnes, bajra output is seen down more than 10% at 4.81 million tonnes, and rice production is pegged at 834,404 tonnes, down over 16% on year. The production of barley is pegged nearly unchanged at 1.10 million tonnes.

 

Chana production is projected to rise over 24% on year to 2.45 million tonnes, the data showed. The output of moong is estimated to rise slightly to 1.39 million tonnes from 1.38 million tonnes a year ago. Urad output is seen falling more than 27% from last year to 91,822 tonnes, and that of masur is also pegged to fall nearly 35% to 23,815 tonnes. Total pulses production in the state is estimated to rise more than 10% on year to 4.48 million tonnes.

 

Production of sugarcane is expected to be at 362,884 tonnes this year, down from 465,468 tonnes in the previous year, the data showed. Guarseed output is projected at 1.88 million tonnes, down nearly 5% on year. Cotton production in the state is likely to fall 5% on year to 1.70 bales (1 bale = 170 kg).

 

The total area sown under all crops, including food grains, oilseeds, cotton, guar, and sugarcane during 2025-26 in the state rose to 28.25 million hectares, slightly up from 28.04 million hectares covered a year ago, the data showed.  End
