MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were steady across key spot markets of the country due to subdued demand at higher prices, traders said. But mustard seed prices are likely to rise in the coming days because of firm demand from crushers, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,300-INR 7,325 per 100 kilograms as demand remained limited at elevated levels, traders at Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 950,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), unchanged from the previous day. However, prices are likely to rise in the coming days as demand for the oilseed is expected to increase amid higher soft oil prices, traders said.
Mustard seed prices in Kota, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,251 per 100 kg after rising by INR 251 per 100 kg on the previous day. As the availability of soft oils such as sunflower oil, soyoil and canola oil was low, there was good demand for mustard seeds from crushers Thursday, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. But at higher prices, demand was need-based on Friday. Arrivals of mustard seed were at 17,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day, Sameriya said.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 6,650 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 2,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day. Demand was need-based at higher rates, he said.
In Kota too, the price of soybean was steady at INR 6,550 per 100 kg after rising by INR 700 on the previous day due to lower arrivals, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 10,000 bags, the same as the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,350 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,200 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
