Canada's Mar 31 stocks of masur, pea at record level; chana stock up 107%

MUMBAI – Canada's stocks of various pulses as at the end of March jumped sharply, according to data compiled by the India Pulses and Grains Association from Statistics Canada. The pulses covered in the compilation are masur, peas and chana.
According to the data, stock of masur rose a hefty 127% to 2.4 million tonnes from 1.0 million tonnes a year ago. Stock of peas also rose significantly by 85% to 2.5 million tonnes from 1.4 million tonnes a year ago. Both the figures were at record levels and above their respective five-year averages, the association said.
Canada's stock of chana at 370,000 tonnes at the end of March was 107% higher than 179,000 tonnes a year ago, as per the data.
India imports pulses from Canada, among other countries, to meet its domestic demand. End
