MCX iCOMDEX Composite index trading up, supported by bullion, energy rates

MUMBAI - The Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index rose in early trade Thursday as the bullion index and the energy index moved up, although the base metals index was marginally down. At 1010 IST, the Composite index was trading at 25001.16 points, 0.43% above previous day's closing level. It had opened at 24931.70 points, up from 24894.12 at previous day's close.
Among the Composite index's constituents, the bullion index was trading 0.45% higher, with gold sub-index up 0.31% and silver up 0.91%.
The energy index was up 0.72%, with crude oil sub-index trading higher 0.77% and natural gas trading up 0.42%.
However, the base metal index was down 0.05%, pulled down by aluminium which was down 0.49% and lead that was down 0.10%. Copper was trading 0.4% higher, and zinc was up 0.03%.
The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy. End
