MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur and Kota due to firm demand but soybean and groundnut prices were steady as demand was need-based at higher prices, traders said. Prices could rise in the coming days due to firm demand for domestic oilseeds if import prices of edible oils continue to be higher, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 50 to INR 7,450-INR 7,475 per 100 kilograms, after rising by INR 200 the previous day, due to high demand from millers, traders at Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 1.0 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.

In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices rose by INR 25 to INR 7,000 per 100 kg as there was good demand for seeds with higher oil content, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Moreover, there is good demand for domestic oilseeds as the import of edible oil has become costly, traders said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,325-INR 6,650 per 100 kg, after rising by INR 400-INR 500 the previous day on firm demand from millers for domestic oilseeds, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 2,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), the same as the previous day. Demand was need-based at higher rates, he said. In Kota, the price of soybean was steady at INR 5,850 per 100 kg, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 12,000 bags, the same as the previous day.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,350-INR 8,350 per 100 kg, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,200 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the same as the previous day, they said.
