Crude oil, natural gas rates pull down MCX iCOMDEX Composite index Tuesday

MUMBAI – A fall in the prices of crude oil and natural gas pulled down the Multi Commodity Exchange of India's iCOMDEX Composite index Tuesday. The index opened at 24816.16 points, down from 24819.44 points at its previous close. At 1040 IST, it was trading at 24815.64 points.
Of the three component indices, the bullion index was trading up by 0.16%, with gold up 0.15% and silver up 0.21%.
The base metal index was up 0.10%, supported by copper which was up 0.14% and zinc which was 0.26% higher. Lead was up 0.08% but aluminium was down 0.13%.
The energy index was down 0.88%, pulled down by 0.83?ll in crude oil sub-index as also 1.09?ll in natural gas.
The MCX iCOMDEX comprises a series of real-time commodity futures price indices and tracks the performance of a basket of commodity futures. It serves as a benchmark for market movements in bullion, base metals, and energy.
