MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seed rose in Jaipur and Kota and prices of soybean rose in Ratlam on firm demand for domestic oilseeds, traders said. Groundnut prices also rose in key markets, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 200 to INR 7,400-INR 7,425 per 100 kilograms as demand from millers was firm, traders at the Marudhar Trading Agency said. Arrivals across the country were at 1.0 million bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 1.1 million bags the previous day, they said.
In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices rose by INR 25 to INR 6,975 per 100 kg as there was good demand for seeds with higher oil content, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Prices were steady as demand was limited at higher rates, he said. Moreover, there is good demand for domestic oilseeds as the import of edible oil has become costly, traders said.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, rose INR 400-INR 500 to INR 3,325-INR 6,650 per 100 kg on firm demand from millers for domestic oilseeds, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 2,500 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), down 100 bags from the previous day. In Kota, the price of soybean was steady at INR 5,850 per 100 kg, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 12,000 bags, same as the previous day.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam rose by INR 100 to INR 3,350-INR 8,350 per 100 kg as demand was good, traders said. Arrivals were at 3,200 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), down 100 bags from the previous day, they said.
